Eyelid Surgery: For a youthful, well-rested look!
Droopy upper lids or puffy bags on your lower lids can you leave looking tired or angry even when you’re not. Because the skin around your eyes is very delicate, it is often one of the first places you will start to notice aging and other aesthetic changes. A blepharoplasty (eyelid lift surgery) is designed to remove excess skin contributing to a tired-looking eye or that may be impairing your vision, as well as reduce excess fatty deposits giving you bags under your eyes. If you are struggling with sagging upper lids or under-eye bags, we can restore your youthful, refreshed look with a blepharoplasty.*
Whether your interests are cosmetic or functional in nature, an eyelid surgery can rejuvenate your eye area. Specifically, an upper and/or lower lid blepharoplasty is designed to treat:
- Loose or excess skin in the upper lids that creates a hooded look and distorts the contour of the eye, sometimes even impairing your vision
- Fatty deposits that appear as heaviness or puffiness in the eyelids
- Under-eye bags
- Drooping or lax lower lids

Your Eyelid Surgery Procedure
It might seem surprising to you the difference that eyelid surgery can have on your overall facial appearance. Your first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Reps or Dr. Burton Sundin to discuss your specific goals. Once we have established what you want to achieve, we can recommend upper lid blepharoplasty, lower lid blepharoplasty, both, or even combine the surgery with other procedures and treatments to maximize your benefits.
The incisions for each procedure are made in inconspicuous places that are easily camouflaged. In the upper blepharoplasty surgery, the incision is made in the crease of your upper lid following the natural contour of the eye and in the lower blepharoplasty surgery, the incision is made along the lower lid lash line. Most incisions heal to be almost imperceptible. After your incision is created, excess skin, muscle, and fatty tissue can be removed from the eye area resulting in a more alert and rejuvenated appearance. Your surgery will be performed under general anesthesia and is an outpatient procedure that generally takes under 2 hours.
The Recovery Process
We will give you careful and precise instructions on how to handle your postoperative care. However, some factors that may expedite your healing include rest, keeping your head elevated, application of ointment, and use of cool compresses to keep swelling and bruising to a minimum. While recovery time will vary depending on the individual, most patients take 4-5 days off work, although the swelling and bruising will take more time to completely heal. After just a couple of weeks, you will be able to look in the mirror and see a naturally more youthful, vibrant you looking back!*
