Nanofat And PRP Injections For Hair Loss

Nanofat And PRP Injections For Hair Loss

Nanofat And PRP Injections For Hair Loss | Northern Virginia | ViennaHair restoration involves the combination of nanofat with PRP, which is injected into the scalp. The application of nanofat, along with PRP, helps miniaturized hair follicles to become larger and healthier, creating more robust hair growth.

Nanofat enhances the proliferation rate of human follicular cells, and PRP contains growth factors that stimulate rapid angiogenesis and localized cell growth.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center (MBody), led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides advanced nanofat based treatments to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding locations.

    The Procedure

Adipose-derived stem cell-conditioned medium (ADSC-CM) is loaded with growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, hepatocyte growth factor, and insulin-like growth factor. Vascular endothelial growth factor manages hair growth and follicle size via angiogenesis. Hepatocyte growth factor impacts the cyclic growth of hair follicles.

Platelet-derived growth factor stimulates and maintains the anagen stage of hair follicles. The insulin-like growth factor manages the hair growth cycle and differentiation of hair shafts. Treatment with adipose-derived stem cell-conditioned medium involves each growth factor activating hair follicles and contributing to increasing the number of hairs in patients with alopecia.

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) has been proven to have various growth factors. PRP therapy involves accumulating the candidate’s blood and spinning it down into a concentrate of plasma that has a high platelet concentration.

Subsequently, this is injected back into the candidate’s scalp. Studies indicate enhanced growth following hair transplant surgery and improved hair counts when used in male and female pattern hair loss.

In this procedure, a tiny amount of fat is liposuctioned in the abdomen region in a minimally invasive manner. This fat is then liquefied and missed with highly concentrated PRP.

The objective of nanofat injection, in combination with PRP, is to reverse the initial stages of hair loss developed by bald spots, thinning hair, and receding hairlines.

Concerns Addressed with Nanofat and PRP

Nanofat and PRP injections for hair loss can address the following concerns:

    • Receding hairline
    • Thinning hair
    • Bald spots

The two significant benefits of this treatment are:

    • Reduced rejection
    • Reduced allergic responses

    Recovery

No special recovery is necessary after this procedure. A majority of patients will be able to resume their regular routine in around two days. Compression garments are to be worn, which are particularly meant for drainage of residual anesthetic solution for the sites of liposuction.

    Suitable Candidates

Appropriate candidates for nanofat and PRP injections for hair loss are in the initial stages of hair loss. Candidates should have reasonable expectations as the outcomes can differ between patients, and the permanence of outcomes may not be assured.

Nanofat and PRP injections are not suitable for patients with hypofibrinogenemia, hemodynamic instability, excessively low blood count, or who experience hair loss due to drugs, stress, or medical treatment as these can be reversed.

    Side Effects

The side effects from nanofat and PRP injections for hair loss may include pinpoint bleeding, minimal pain, and redness when the injections are being delivered. Certain patients report a “full” or “tight” sensation in the scalp right after the injections that may last up to one day. In exceptional cases, patients will complain of a mild headache the next day.

    Nanofat Enhances Facial Rejuvenation Procedures

Nanofat Enhances Facial Rejuvenation Procedures | Northern VirginiaThe science and techniques of biologics, such as nanofat, represent a revolution in the area of cosmetic facial rejuvenation. Fat grafting represents a wave of modern plastic surgery.

Nanofat enables cosmetic surgeons to use natural tissue, minus the possibilities of allergic responses or viral transmission. Stemming from this, this fat has a higher concentration of stem cells compared to bone marrow.

Fortunately, with nanofat, any surgeon can process the fat for facial enhancement procedures since the FDA considers it to be fat without biological modification. Surgeons inject nanofat intracutaneously to enhance the texture and tone of the skin.

As the fat is highly processed, the surgeon can actually inject it through a 27 to 30-gauge needle for true intradermal injections. Skilled surgeons are using nanofat for multiple facial procedures to treat wrinkles, fine lines, dyschromia, and sites of hyperpigmentation.

They use traditional fat for treating deeper creases and wrinkles. If they want to enhance the decolletage, neckline, crow’s feet, intraorbital area, and perioral rhytides, they will utilize nanofat as it enables them to go directly intradermally and help enhance those sites.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center (MBody), led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides advanced nanofat based treatments to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding communities.

Nanofat Harvest Points in the Body

It was challenging to inject fat into the neck area to achieve an acceptable outcome before nanofat. However, the surgeons can now harvest nanofat from regions such as the knees as it is most comfortable for the patient, the fat is readily harvested and contoured, and typically, there is minimal to no bruising.

Other common sites for nanofat harvesting are the periumbilical and flanks. A surgeon can initially perform fat grafting after a facelift and, if necessary, laser resurfacing. After this, they may inject platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and, lastly, nanofat. The maximum outcomes of the nanofat portion manifest between two to four months.

The texture and tone of the skin improve significantly with one treatment section of combined therapy. However, it takes between three to four months to really begin to see the true stem cell or biological effect.

Several patients set up a second combination treatment at up to one year. There are now devices available that make it easier to prepare nanofat for injection. When injected intradermally, there is minimal risk of embolization, as the body can naturally renew the tissue from within.

    Restoring Facial Youth with Nanofat

Upon being injected into the facial tissue, nanofat will rejuvenate compromised cells, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and volumize the followed out and depleted sites (such as the temples, cheeks, and lines around the mouth). Nanofat treatment can help develop a more chiseled chin area and jawline. It can enhance facial texture and elasticity and offer a more uniform tone.

Tiny quantities of nanofat can be injected into the lips to augment their plum appearance and remove fine lines surrounding the lips. Moreover, nanofat injectable treatment can also help develop smoother skin in the neck region to offer more natural and consistent outcomes for the neck and face.

    What is Nanofat?

What is Nanofat? | Northern Virginia | Washington DC | Vienna | McLeanNanofat is an innovative concept in fat grafting, enabling the doctor to address very fine wrinkles and thinning skin associated with aging using very small parcels of matrix, and a stromal vascular fraction, which includes growth factors, stem cells, and other regenerative substances.

Stromal vascular fraction was initially used in cosmetics in 2003. In a study of eight patients, stromal vascular fraction (a form of Nanofat) was injected in the smile lines and fine lip lines of the face. The final outcomes were highly cosmetically attractive with no poor effects reported.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center (MBody), led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides advanced nanofat based treatments to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding locations.

    Steps in Nanofat Extraction

Six steps are involved in obtaining Nanofat from a person’s body:

    1. Application of local anesthesia and a needle puncture in the skin to draw blood
    2. A tiny quantity of local anesthetic is introduced using a rounded cannula, which is more gentle than a needle
    3. Withdrawal of one or two syringes, a little bigger than the tubes for drawing blood
    4. The fat is then washed and purified using an innovative process
    5. The fat is progressively made into tinier microscopic parcels of fat by a special device
    6. The microscopic fat parcels are further modified into Nanofat by passing through numerous screens

Nanofat is an effective solution for patients seeking a superficial fat replacement to restore thinning skin to a more youthful state. Studies undertaken in Italy indicate that stromal vascular fraction and nanofat will reverse certain structural changes in collagen and elastin, actually showing tissue regeneration.

Nanofat has been proven to enhance hair growth in males and females with thinning in the initial stages of alopecia (baldness) as well as address the appearance of scars and heal certain wounds. The underlying reason for these changes seems to be an increase in the blood flow to the tissues.

    Different Applications of Nanofat

A cosmetic surgeon may use Nanofat and stromal vascular enriched fat as a tissue graft for the following:

    • Forehead rejuvenation, smoker lines around the lips (perioral rhytids), fine lines
    • Sun damage, usually in combination with fractional lasers (Nanofat Laser)
    • Nanofat microneedling for deep dermal recovery, to soften acne scars

Additionally, surgeons use Nanofat during laser surface to deliver stem cells, growth factors, and other regenerative cells into the skin, similar to the manner in which platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is used. The primary difference is PRP has smaller quantities of growth factors and tends to enhance the blood flow but does not regenerate collagen and elastin as much as Nanofat and Stromal Vascular Fraction.

Fat grafting of the entire face can be undertaken with nanofat at the time of a facelift, laser treatment, eyelid rejuvenation, or as an individual procedure under local anesthesia. Fat grafting of the hands may be undertaken simultaneously if desired.

Researchers have developed new concepts of re-defining the fat graft into various forms based on the unique needs of the patient. These cutting-edge approaches to fat processing, emulsification, and nanofat have garnered accolades from plastic surgery professionals across the globe.
