Questions To Ask Your Plastic Surgeon Before Brow Lift Surgery

Questions To Ask Your Plastic Surgeon Before Brow Lift Surgery

    Brow Lift Surgery

Forehead or a brow lift procedure may seem relatively minor. However, it can make significant improvements to your facial appearance. It’s paramount that you have a clear idea about what the procedure is about before going in for the surgery. You should know the surgical technique your surgeon will use, effective recovery period, or aesthetic limitations and benefits.

It is better to have all concerns, doubts, and questions listed beforehand in your phone or on a sheet. You should carry this to your surgeon’s office during the initial consultation. A dedicated surgeon will ensure that all your questions are answered in a transparent and accurate fashion. This will help you make an informed and salient decision.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides forehead lift and brow lift to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding communities.

    Successful and Comprehensive Consultation

You and your surgeon will need to have a good rapport for the brow lift consultation to be successful. You should be able to communicate freely with the surgeon about your needs. You should choose a surgeon who makes you feel comfortable and confident in their abilities.

The surgeon may present forehead lift and brow lift cosmetic surgery before and after images at the initial consultation. They may do this to help you create realistic expectations and make the right decision.

    Questions to Ask Your Surgeon

You should consider asking your cosmetic surgeon the following questions during the initial consultation:

    • Are you a board certified plastic surgeon?
    • Do you have the required experience and skills in brow/forehead lift surgery?
    • Have you performed eye or facial related cosmetic procedure before? What is the satisfaction rate of your patients?
    • Would you perform the plastic surgery under local or general anesthesia?
    • Where will the surgery be performed – at an accredited surgery center, local hospital, or a private surgical suite?
    • How long will I be inside the operating room for the procedure?
    • Should I combine eyelid lift surgery with forehead lift surgery?
    • Are there any complications or risks that I should know of?
    • Can we make the procedure less invasive by combining it with dermal filler or Botox injections?
    • What is your policy for revision procedure in case I am not satisfied with the end results?
    • How many days of leave do I need to apply for?
    • Is the recovery going to be painful?
    • Will the procedure leave scars anywhere on my face?
    • How long will the results of the surgery last?
    • What is the estimated cost of the surgery including all its pre- and post-surgical costs?
    • Will there be a loss of sensation in my brow region following the surgery?
    • What is your number in case of an emergency?
    • Can you give me a brief tour of your office? How do I get more familiar with your team?
    • Can you show me forehead/brow lift before and after images or testimonials of past patients?

Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction) New Technique

    Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction)

Male breast enlargement or gynecomastia can be treated successfully through a new and less invasive procedure. Dr. Sundin at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery has introduced a new and advanced technique for performing gynecomastia surgery. It allows him to tighten the skin and excise breast glands through a quarter-inch incision. This small incision makes the surgery less invasive, less painful, and it involves minimal downtime.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides minimally invasive gynecomastia surgery (male breast reduction) to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding communities.

Advantages of Gynecomastia Surgery Using the New Technique

    • Low risk of complications
    • Less invasive
    • Less time spent in the operating room
    • Post-surgical scarring is virtually invisible
    • Minimal post-operative discomfort and pain
    • Faster recovery
    • Reduced downtime

    How Does the Surgery Work?

Enlarged male breasts consist of excess fatty tissue and glandular tissue. Liposuction can be used for removing the soft fat tissue deposits. However, the denser and firmer glandular tissues need to be excised. This excess glandular tissue can be removed by Dr. Sundin using a new technique that requires making small incisions – the size of ¼ inch.

The tiny incision is usually located in the nipple-areolar complex margins or another discreet location for near-invisible scarring. Excision techniques and liposuction cosmetic surgery may be carried out in combination or individually depending on the unique patient needs and conditions.

    Tissue Excision Surgery

The new, minimally invasive surgical tissue excision procedure is used by Dr. Sundin in the more severe male breast reduction cases. In addition, a tissue excision surgery may help if there is stretched or loose skin around the breast area. Dr. Sundin is able to remove more glandular breast tissue and surplus skin by using the small incision technique as compared to liposuction alone.

The location and size of the incisions differ depending on the size of male breast enlargement. The new surgical technique is less invasive with minimal scarring. The gynecomastia surgery may involve liposuction if excess fatty tissue is present. General anesthesia is used for performing tissue excision surgery. However, tumescent technique may be used if only liposuction is necessary. This requires sedation and local anesthesia.

    Puffy Nipple Gynecomastia

One of the more common types of gynecomastia is the Puffy Nipple. ‘Puffy’ appearance of the nipples is due to an excess amount of breast tissue under the areola and nipple that pushes the nipple outward. This makes the appearance of nipple overly visible, particularly in thin shirts.

    Results and Recovery

Your recovery following male breast reduction surgery using the new technique will be similar to the recovery time taken during liposuction. You should be able to return to your regular routine in 4 – 6 days. The results of the technique are permanent because glandular and fatty tissue that is removed once doesn’t return. You can maintain the new and improved contours of your male chest by following a healthy lifestyle.

Collagen Stimulation Therapy With Hyperdilute Radiesse

    Collagen Stimulation Therapy

Do crinkles, wrinkles, and fine lines trouble you? Do you want firmer and smoother skin that has youthful elasticity? Radiesse is a form of collagen stimulating filler which lifts the skin and replaces lost volume. It also improves skin elasticity and texture. The injectable can be used for volumizing depleted areas. Radiesse can also be used as a skin rejuvenator when hyper-diluted.

Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides collagen stimulation therapy with Hyperdilute Radiesse injections to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, Fredericksburg, and surrounding communities.

    Hyper-dilute Radiesse

Recent treatment innovations have shown that Radiesse can act as a bio-stimulating agent when it is hyper-diluted. Hyper-diluting means the compound is mixed with lidocaine and saline for thinning it out. The hyper-diluted mixture is then injected under the aging skin.

The skin rejuvenating effects of this treatment is visible and pronounced. Production of elastin and collagen begins as early as 4 weeks post-treatment. This helps with progressive natural dermal thickening and long-term skin tightening. Skin laxity, fine lines, and crepiness is reduced while elasticity, tone and skin pliability are improved.

Hyper-diluted Radiesse can be used for treating cellulite as well. Dimpling is reduced and the skin is plumped out by injecting hyper-diluted Radiesse in areas that have moderate to severe cellulite.

    Treatment Areas

These are a few areas that can be treated:

    • Upper inner arms
    • Neck
    • Buttocks
    • Abdomen
    • Decolletage
    • Mid and lower face
    • Thighs
    • Knees

Hyper-dilute Radiesse can be used in combination to lasers, fillers, and other modalities for the best results. The treatment provider will discuss a custom treatment plan with you. In the first year, 1 – 3 treatment sessions spaced a month apart may be required for optimal cosmetic effects. You would also need maintenance treatments every 12 – 18 months.

Long Lasting Results with Collagen Generation

The primary structural protein in the skin is collagen. It makes the skin appear youthful and taut. The production of collagen slows down with age causing the skin to sag. Hyper-dilute Radiesse injections help in replenishing new collagen fibers and restoring facial volume.

The diluted gel will fill large volume areas, such as the neck, hands, chest, and buttocks. It also works to reduce unsightly cellulite appearance permanently.

    Cosmetic Benefits of Dilute Radiesse

    • Reduces cellulite
    • Neutralizes volume loss
    • Repairs acne scarring
    • Nonsurgical and safe
    • In-office treatment
    • Immediate results
    • Promotes elastin and collagen regeneration
    • Reverses the appearance of crepe skin
    • No complications, scarring, or downtime

    Suitable Candidacy for Dilute Radiesse

Dilute Radiesse is an excellent treatment for people with moderately loose or sagging skin. It is a safe and excellent supplement to cosmetic treatments. The procedure works best on crepe-like skin. Natural collagen regeneration is promoted to provide patients with a more rejuvenated and youthful appearance.

    Zero Downtime

Dermal fillers, such as dilute Radiesse when injected using thin cannulas can provide safe and effective rejuvenation in thin and delicate areas. There is no downtime required after treatment.
