A facelift with Silhouette InstaLift technique does not involve any plastic surgery whatsoever. The treatment provider will insert threads of biodegradable cones into the targeted areas of the face to temporarily lift sagging skin. While Silhouette InstaLift has been a widely popular procedure in Europe, it has now received FDA clearance in the US.
How does it Work?
The treatment provider will perform an Instalift procedure by inserting an absorbable thread with cones on it into the selected facial areas. The thread is made from polylactic acid, which gets entirely absorbed by the body. The cones on the thread are bidirectional, which means the provider can point the cones one way, toward the bottom, when they put the first needle through. When the other needle is put in, the cones will point in the opposite direction or above the first ones.
With this approach the tissue above the cones is used as an anchor, which then advances the tissue below it toward it. This allows the skin to be lifted. The cones are orientated, which enables the squeezing of the tissue together. Thereafter, as the thread and cones are processed by the body, scar tissue formation occurs around it, and then the tissue is suspended in that position.
Distinguishing Feature
Unlike traditional contour thread procedures, the surface area in the InstaLift procedure that engages the tissue is significantly larger than just the contour sutures. Unlike permanent contour threads, the sutures in InstaLift are made from lactic acid, which allows their processing and absorption by the body. As the sutures dissolve, the body produces fresh collagen because the lactic acid will stimulate new collagen generation.
