ACell™ Hair Regrowth Therapy
Hair loss is a common concern among both men and women in the United States. A number of invasive and non-invasive treatments are available to address this problem, but success has been fairly limited in most cases. Hair transplant surgery is one of the key treatment options, but some people may not be ready for surgery. ACell™ hair regrowth therapy is a promising new treatment for hair loss, which may be carried out independently or in combination with hair transplant surgery.
Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center is a state of the art practice led by eminent plastic surgeons, Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin. MBody receives patients for hair regeneration and other treatments from Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and surrounding communities.
What is ACell™?
ACell™ is a revolutionary, FDA approved cellular regeneration product that is designed to promote wound healing. Researchers have recently combined this treatment with a patient’s own cells to achieve hair regrowth in both men and women. ACell™ has particularly shown encouraging results when it is combined with platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair restoration.
ACell™ and PRP are combined and injected into the targeted areas of the scalp to induce natural regrowth of hair. When the patient applies this combined therapy, it leads to the miniaturized hair follicles becoming stronger, healthier, and larger. Hair regrowth becomes more robust as ACell™ activates the follicular progenitor cells or the adult Platelet Rich Plasma cells. PRP includes growth factors that support rapid angiogenesis and localized cell growth.
ACell™ and PRP in combination has shown to be more effective for both male and female pattern hair loss. The treatment has also shown hair regrowth in alopecia areata, eyebrow hypotrichosis and other cases with non-hereditary hair loss. Modern Body Contouring & Laser Center provides innovative non-invasive and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures to patients in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Vienna, McLean, Loudoun, Ashburn, Tysons Corner, Reston, Arlington, Chevy Chase, Richmond, and nearby areas.
ACell™ treatment is based on the innovative MatriStem technology, involving the using of a naturally occurring, resorbable, non-crosslinked, acellular material. The unique aspect of MatriStem, unlike other devices, is that it fundamentally improves healing by triggering plentiful new blood vessels and recruiting multiple cell types to the injury site.
These cells, which include progenitor cells, can differentiate into various types of site specific tissues. In the process of healing, the scaffold is degraded and totally resorbed, leaving new tissue where usually the scar tissue would occur. This advanced UBM scaffold technology can be applied to a wide range of treatments, including hair regeneration.
PRP or platelet rich plasma therapy can be used together with ACell™ treatment for more comprehensive results. When used with hair transplant, this treatment can support each individual graft to spur more substantive hair re-growth. An experienced hair restoration expert will recommend the most appropriate treatment plan involving ACell™, PRP, and hair transplant surgery.
